从事基于合成生物学的天然药物及中药研究。基于酶工程和代谢工程联用策略建立了天然药物成分群的合成生物学技术体系;实现了优质檀香挥发油的工业水平生物制造,品质优于国际巨头巴斯夫的同款生物制造檀香挥发油,并完成技术转让,是国内首个实现转化的药效成分群生物制造技术;承担国家重点研发计划课题、国自然项目等10余项国家和省部级科研课题,Nat. Commun.、JACS及ACS Catal.等杂志发表论文70余篇。参编3部教材和1部专著。
